This research aimed to develop a unique guide to help architects understand and hence apply Architectural Management (AM) in their practices. A comprehensive review of the literature identified a number of components belonging to different specialist fields. A pragmatic methodology for developing the framework was adopted by combining Japareen's methodology for building conceptual frameworks, Concept Mapping and Qualitative Met-synthesis. The resulting framework was then subjected to a series of testing stages to further refine the framework. The testing process was targeted at two groups: researchers and professionals; and this was achieved through a mixed method approach which included a facilitated workshop, interviews and a questionnaire survey. Feedback from the testing phase resulted in a final Architectural Management Taxonomy Framework which provides an original and practical guide for practitioners as well as extending the understanding of architectural management. In the longer term, further validation and refinement is planned by applying the framework to selected architectural practices.
