McKenziePrimary alcohols are oxidized to the corresponding aldehydes by tetraphenylphosphonium monoperoxysulfate (TPPP) in the presence of catalytic 2-iodobenzoic acid. Over-oxidation to carboxylic acids is not observed, in contrast to the use of catalytic 2-iodobenzoic acid with Oxone as reoxidant.
