A study of novel steroidal polymers

The incorporation of steroidal monomers into main chain polymers has been used to investigate their potential as mesogenic groups. Copolymers have been produced from a range of steroid diol monomers coupled with flexible spacer groups from a series of diacid chlorides with the general formula ClCO(CH2)nCOCl where n=2 to n=12.
