Optical theorem for the scattering of strain waves by inhomogeneities of the plane boundary of a solid
journal contribution
posted on 2010-08-10, 08:39 authored by Victor V. KrylovAn optical theorem for the scattering of volume and Rayleigh waves by surface inhomogeneities is obtained,
relating the total scattering cross section to the scattering amplitudes in definite directions. Comparisons are
made with the case of an unbounded medium. Aspects of the practical application of the results are discussed.
