The application of a laser range-finding sensor for non-contacting inspection

The research was carried out in collaboration with LK Tool Co. Ltd. The purpose was to investigate the potential application of the laser- based range-finding Optocator sensor for non-contacting inspection on a computer-assisted coordinate measuring machine (CMM) as an alternative to the conventional touch trigger probe. LK provided a Granite 80 bridge-type CMM, and was consulted on aspects of CMM technology. [Continues.]
