A survey and planning of guidelines for establishing and developing social science libraries in Saudi Arabia

to libraries which are part of establishments, institutes,
information centres, government departments and ministries,
which are concerned with social affairs. The aims and
objectives of the study have attempted to:
(1) review the background and development of social science
libraries in Saudi Arabia;
(2) analyse a survey of the current status and assess
the present and future needs of social science
libraries;
(3) establish library services to meet the needs of users;
(4) evaluate the possibility of cooperation between these
libraries in the areas of acquisition, organisation
and services;
(5) the study attempts to propose the goals, objectives
and functions of the social science libraries;
(6) propose guidelines for the establishment and development
of the organisational structure, human resources,
and the services;
(7) plan modern library buildings and new facilities for
social science libraries in Saudi Arabia which may
well be useful to other developing countries. [Continues.]
