Conditions for validity of the geometrical-acoustics approximation in application to waves in an acute-angle solid wedge

The conditions under which flexural and longitudinal waves in an acute-angle solid wedge can be described in the geometrical-acoustics approximation are determined. The results are used to formulate a ray theory of waveguide modes in a solid wedge i.e. so-called acoustic wedge modes.
