Abstract: This report presents findings of a telephone survey of organisations’ understanding of equality legislation which was conducted between November 2011 and January 2012. It is the first in a series of three topic reports that forms a key early stage of the Government Equalities Office (GEO) evaluation of the Equality Act 2010, which was primarily implemented in October of that year. This report investigates workplace equality structures and variations in organisations’ ethos regarding equality. The second report focuses on awareness of the Act and its impact on practice. The third outlines the structures that organisations had in place for addressing employee claims of discriminatory or unequal treatment. It also explores the basis for recent disputes as well as outcomes.
Description: This is a report produced by the Centre for Research in Social Policy and the International Centre for Public and Social Policy on behalf of Government Equalities Office.
