Abstract: | Production of fibrinolytic enzyme by successive solid state cultivation of Fusarium oxysporum on rice chaff (RC) was studied. From recycling 20 g dry RC six times by pure batch culture, an overall of 23200IU fibrinolytic enzyme was obtained. A total of 27400IU was obtained when the same amount of RC was used for six cycles with repeated batch fermentation employing immobilized whole cells, which also resulted in 30% (w/w) loss by weight of the substrate, while only 8% (w/w) of RC was degraded in the initial pure batch fermentation. |
