Development of objective quality control criteria for air-jet textured yarns

conference contribution
posted on 2017-10-13, 14:30 authored by Memis Acar, Timothy G. King, Gordon R. Wray
Methods used in industry to determine the surface characteristics of the air-jet textured yarns are reviewed and shown to be primitive, subjective, tedious, and unreliable. A new technique developed to determine the loop size and frequency and core diameter of the yarn is described. This technique incorporates a charge coupled device (CCD) for image sensing and microprocessors for data capturing and processing, to determine objective quality control parameters.
