Title: An evaluation of mastication and the development of a predictive model for the rubber mixing process

Abstract: The research presented initially evaluated the effect mixing conditions have on the efficiency of mastication through a series of central composite experimental designs. The resulting regression analysis showed that mixing time, rotor speed, circulating water temperature and fill factor all have an effect on final batch temperature and viscosity; and that each parameter causes a consistent pattern. This observation lead to the research concentrating on the development of a predictive model for the rubber mixing process. [Continues.]
