The literature relating to the aluminising of Ni-based alloys has been reviewed. Experimental studies have been made to determine the Al uptake, and characterise the aluminide coatings produced on MAR-M002 and Nimonic Alloy PE16 at 700°C–1000°C. The rediffusion process and degradation of coatings produced have also been studied in inert atmospheres at temperatures of 900°C and 1050°C (MAR-M002) and 700°C–1050°C (PE16). [Continues.]
