Abstract: This paper presents a monitoring concept that has been introduced at the Volta Region Community Water and Sanitation Programme (VRCWSP) in Ghana. The aim of this monitoring concept is to provide information that will enable stakeholders to establish an overview of “how many hand pumps are in working condition at any given time?” The design concept has been to keep it as simple as possible to ensure a clear answer to the above simple question.
