One of the major objectives of International Water Supply and Sanitation Decade programme is to provide access for protected water supply and sani­tation to all, both rural and urban, in tune with the Mar-del-Plata con­ference theme. In this connection, a few significant research and deve­lopment needs are identified, the fulfilling of which will further the objectives of the Decade programme.
