Abstract: Obtaining effective hygiene behaviour change through Hygiene Promotion (HP) remains a challenge. A discrepancy exists between the scientific knowledge now available about human behaviour and the HP interventions implemented by aid agencies. Quality standards need to be defined and applied to ensure minimum quality of HP interventions. This paper presents some insights and practical recommendations for closing the knowledge behaviour gap.
