Multiple glow discharges have been studied and both electrode and aerodynamic techniques investigated to enable operation of a large volume high power glow discharge to excite a high power C02 laser. A wide range of electrode configurations was investigated and the advantages of using multiple anodes with large surface area multiple cathodes determined. [Continues.]
