The author has been working in the field of Mathematical Education, with
special interest in In-Service Education and Training, for many years. This
work, which is described in this thesis, has been used to develop a particular
philosophy of Mathematical Education and strategies and techniques
related to the provision of INSET for special groups of teachers. [Continues.]
