Abstract: The temperature profiles of electrodes in discharge lamps are important as they radically affect the fundamental chemical and physical transport processes within the lamp which have a direct influence on many important factors of lamp performance such as life, efficiency and lumen maintenance. In the past a number of investigations have been made into various aspects of electrode performance and, in particular, their temperature profiles but none have looked specifically at single ended discharge lamps.
