The plasma concentrations and urine levels of bleomycin in patients undergoing bleomycin therapy are of considerable interest since they may give an indication of the amount of bleomycin left in the body and hence that amount which is potentially available to the tumour. These levels are also important since bleomycin shave toxic effects and the onset of toxic effects in patients is quite variable. … In view of the variable excretion and the differing tumour : blood ratios of the various bleomycins, there is a need not only to determine total bleomycin levels but also the individual bleomycins.
