Hollywood synergy
thesis
posted on 2018-11-21, 09:30 authored by Nathan M. VaughanThis thesis is a theoretically informed and empirical analysis of synergistic
processes within Hollywood production and circulation. Drawing on the distinction
between economic and cultural synergy, the thesis proposes an argument concerning
the homology and interaction of these modes and how they have developed from an
intensive to an extensive form.
The study combines theoretical perspectives from the political economy of
culture and cultural analysis with film studies. It also draws upon the sociology of
organisations and notes how synergy has been somewhat neglected in management
theory as well as in media studies. [Continues.]
