Abstract: The paper describes a sensor optimisation systematic framework approach and a Fault Tolerant control scheme for sensor failures applied to an EMS maglev system. The aim is to find the minimum number of sensors that can be used in order to optimise the performance, reduce complexity and offer sensor fault tolerance. The concept is verified via simulations with the non-linear model of an EMS system.
