Abstract: Wang and Harvey (2009 and 2010), and Wang and Guan (2010) have developed fracture mode partition theories for one-dimensional fractures in beams and plates based on both classical and shear deformable beam and plate theories. This paper presents comparisons between different theories and numerical simulations to validate the developed theories.
